Institued on October 18, 1861 by King Wilhelm I. (Issued 1866 1918). A gilt bronze cross pattee with stippled arms, the obverse with a circular central medallion depicting the Royal Prussian crown, surrounded by a light blue enameled ring, inscribed Gott Mit Uns" (German God with Us) in gilt lettering, the reverse with a circular central medallion depicting the royal cipher of King William I,
